David Blaine!!!

To launch a kids summer reading program, David Blaine came to the Albany Public Library. No, Melissa's camera has not made a return, but we used her phone to take some pictures!!!

He talked to the kids about their favorite books, and showed card tricks that he says he learned by reading.

Then he started signing some of those cards and handing them out... Laura got to choose hers, and he outlined the center heart on her 9 of hearts!!!

No pictures, no blog

So, it's been a while. We've been getting emails, questioning our lack of updates. No, we're not too busy. Melissa's camera is in the shop.

Things we've not taken photos of in the past three weeks:
Angela's 30th Birthday!
Laura playing at the Moon River Cafe
Joe's last day of school (for the summer)
Project Runway premiere party
Ciaran's first birthday party
Ciaran's actual first birthday (at Alive at Five)
Bomber's Commerical Contest at Noche
Larryoke at Pinto and Hobbes

And tonight's Harith Warming party downstairs!!!

We hope the camera comes home soon...

Fourth of July!

To celebrate America's birthday, we headed west, to Cooperstown.
d
We passed a tractor as soon as we got on Route 20. Upstate New York rules!

Joe was all smiles, sitting at baseball shaped table, for lunch, before heading to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Melissa met her favorite baseball icon, the Philly Phanatic!!!

We left the museum, Melissa still unsure as to what team she should support, and heard the Paul Simon soundcheck. Which was next to batting cages!

After much deliberation, Melissa concluded she would support the Red Sox (not entirely because of the cute socks logo...).

Wearing our new hats, we rocked out to Paul Simon in Doubleday Field. After a three minute downpour, we danced and swayed for hours.

Sunday, Monday

Our friend Tom, and his girlfriend Kat, came to visit us, and the rest of Albany from Brooklyn for the Fourth of July weekend.

Laura and Joe treated Tom to a mini hootenany on the back porch.

This sign freaked him out. (Yes, former Albanians, it is that Palais. With fine wine. We know.)

Hudson!

Budget Travel named Hudson one of America's 10 cutest towns. So, when we heard that The Everybody Fields, one of our favorite bands, was playing Hudson Harbor Fest this weekend, we knew we had to head south, and bring Molly and Paul with us.

Upon arriving in Hudson, we couldn't quite figure out how to get to the waterfront, so instead we found this unmarked, unnamed statue.

Melissa and Molly tried to use their detective skills, but came up with nothing.

We decided against cliff diving, and found ourselves at the harbor... with about two hours before our band. So we took the trolly. (Molly and Paul contemplated actually taking it...)

A trolly over train tracks is a little unnerving.

But we enjoyed the trip up Warren Street.

The Hudson Register-Star is located right in town, with this sign hanging on its building. Seemed right.

Further up the street was this strange, empty building, with a photo of a mural being panted, sideways, on top.

We stared at it for a while, but it didn't make much more sense.

Nor did the Museum of the Imagination... which shares a building with an electric supply store.

So we headed back down to the river, in time to see the Luxury Flats, and a barge.

Our favorite band from Tennessee came on just as the sun set.
