Hiking the Appalachian Trail...

Last Sunday we headed over to Vermont to do some hiking.

We went to Harmon Hill, part of both the Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail.
It was steep and muddy.
But the view of Bennington and the area was worth it!
The sign at the top of Harmon, which indicated how many miles to the various points along the Trail.
Happy us enjoying the foliage.
At Molly and Paul's wedding, we walked about ten feet of the AT. Now we've done 3.7 miles!

Lovely ladies!

Last Saturday the girls went to Saratoga to celebrate Anne and Meg's birthdays, and go to the mineral baths. Though Melissa forgot to bring the camera into the actual spa to document the weird brown oily water that smelled like lavendar, here is a shot Jason took before we brunched.

Oh, the Rock.

Friday night we (and Laura and Jason and Wendy and Harith and Anne...) went to see the Strokes at the Armory.
They sold Strokes ashtrays... but only after the show. This amused Melissa, a lot.
And we danced and rocked and enjoyed the show.
And we got backstage to see Fab! It was nice to see him!
And after seven years, finally a picture of the three of us.

And Sunday...

Tired from the bulk of the weekend, we refused to give up before seeing Fernando! He came to visit Albany.
Wendy sampled the mousse Katy and Shawn made us for our final installment of monthly baked happiness.
Joe, Laura and Jason, playing CatchPhrase.
Mike, Katie and Harith, also playing CatchPhrase.
Fernando and Karen, his girlfriend, who we subjected to the oober-competitive game. She did just fine!
Melissa and Wendy happily drinking Georges DesBoeuf.
Laura and Caspian bonding. (The Rev gets a lot of love on this blog. Caspian, not so much.)

And the Rock continues

Saturday night we headed to Valentines to see our favorites, knotworking!

On the way, Wendy posed in front of the world's coolest moving van.

Excited to be done with cleaning, Meliss,a Laura and Wendy were ready to dance.

As usual, knotworking was amazing. Look at Meg!

They did "Never Could Swim" in the middle of the audience... it was kinda like our hootenanies!!! And yes, we sang along.

After the show, Mike and Joe look at something very intently.

When we get home, Laura opens up a bottle of Merlot and Joe serenades her with some banjo!

Jason likes the banjo!

We are the best friends ever

Anne turns 30 next week, and a while back Melissa had a brainstorm: Let's redecorate and clean her apartment! Anne has made comments over the years about wishing someone would clean, or help her fix up the place. Well, while she was in NYC this weekend we decided to become her little cleaning fairies!

We will not show "before" pictures, only those in progress, to protect our beloved, if a little messy, friend. Wendy hit the CD collection.

After doing the bathroom, Laura fixed a clock in the bedroom after Melissa rearranged it.
Putting the finishing touches on the living room and kitchen...
Look at the new beautiful living room!
And the five sweaty, dusty best friends a girl could ever have!!

Quick aside:
When Anne came home on Sunday, she loved it! Yay!

Bus Trip to Massachusetts!

Last Friday we hit the road with a bus load of Kamikaze Hearts fans to go to Northampton for the band's record release party.
We were quite releived to here about the chartered bus... the Berkshire fog isn't a particular favorite of ours at 2 a.m.
We wandered around Northampton, had some dinner, and Joe tried to convince Melissa that we should move here. It didn't work.
The Hearts rocked our socks off, yet again.

Random Happiness

There are so many pictures to post from this weekend, but first, a few random pictures of happy things.
